St. Luke's HealthNow Episode Focuses on the Use of Artificial Intelligence

Episode one of a special two-part series discusses how artificial intelligence advances care at St. Luke's University Health Network.

The next installment of St. Luke’s HealthNow will air on Monday, November 28, 2022, at 6:30 PM on WFMZ, Channel 69. This episode centers on using Artificial Intelligence throughout the St. Luke’s University Health Network (SLUHN), including how it increases efficiency and enhances patient clinical outcomes. The second installment of this series will air on January 16, 2023.

This installment features a group of experts describing how informatics and Artificial Intelligence (AI) influence their day-to-day responsibilities and the functions of the Health Network as a whole. The panelists discuss the AI process, from the initial implementation of AI initiatives to the differences it makes for patients on the hospital floor. Also included is a reflection on how AI played a role in SLUHN’s processes during the COVID-19 pandemic and how they used AI to cement their status as a leading healthcare provider in central-eastern Pennsylvania. The featured panelists are:

  • Charles Sonday, DNP

    • Network medical director of provider informatics at SLUHN

  • Chad Brisendine

    • Vice president, chief information officer at SLUHN

“Artificial Intelligence is used in our technology platform as a means to provide additional safety nets to our patients and the care they receive,” said Jen Grell, senior director of clinical informatics and training at SLUHN. “It’s all about looking at clinical outcomes for our patients and finding the right technology to enhance clinical care.”
